"ACCOMPANY" FOR MUSA.

About dependencies, support and growth.
SAN AGUSTÍN DEL GUADALIX. MADRID, SPAIN 2022

December, the cold, some rain, music and growth…

The last project of 2022 was this mural that I made for the Urban Museum of San Agustín. A project curated and managed by Madrid Street Art Project.
San Agustín del Guadalix is a small town at the north of Madrid with about 14,000 inhabitants and, from what I could see, with great interest in education and culture. The proposal from MSAP was to intervene on the exterior façade of the School of the Arts, a referential training center for young and old who seek to develop in different disciplines such as music, dance, theater or plastic arts.

The facade to intervene was perfect. A building with brutalist architecture, with large walls of smooth, unpainted concrete, gray in color and with signs of humidity, alive.
My proposal and subsequent mural sought to aesthetically include and blend in with the façade itself, using the material as a background. Thus giving part of the prominence to concrete and seeking to be as respectful as possible with the environment and the building.
On the other hand, the piece had to be in accordance with the context and activities carried out in the center. I sought to use the hands as a resource, as I have done in previous works, to talk in this case about the teaching work done.

Here are some images of the process:

“Some hands play the piano. A piano that accompanies, that sets the rhythm, the pulse, that gives strength and character.
A body dances and depends on those hands, on that help. Many disciplines and areas of life, and in this case artistic, are not understandable without others, without their support.

People complement each other, we need each other. We look for other opinions, other points of view, we need signals and external impulses,
motivations or excuses that make us make a decision, that allow us to grow.

Accompany talks about all this. How to find the positive part in dependencies without ceasing to be independent.”

And this was the final result.
Many thanks to MSAP for all the work and the opportunity. Thanks also to the town hall of San Agustín del Guadalix.

I hope you like it,
